Forks Over Knives

I have been waiting months for this documentary to come out and last week I finally got to see it!

I actually arrived 30 minutes early thinking everyone else was clamouring to see it as well, but turns out it was an almost empty theatre.

I should have known. Most people don’t want to hear that we are too fat, addicted to crappy foods, and we need to eat a plant based diet to avoid heart disease and cancer.

I get it, it’s not sexy, but it’s true.

The documentary offers clear evidence that eating a plant based diet can actually reverse cancer, while eating meat and dairy turns it on like a switch.

Here’s what Roger Ebert had to say “Here is a film that could save your life. So you’d better stop reading now, because you don’t want to go to the trouble. You are addicted to fat, salt, sugar and corn syrup. Your body has established a narcotic-like dependence on them”.

He goes on, “What every human being should do is eat a vegetarian diet based on whole foods. Period. That’s it. Animal protein is bad for you. Dairy is bad for you. Forget the ads: Milk and eggs are bad for you. Skim milk is no better, because it contains proportionately more animal protein. What you’re trying to avoid is dietary cholesterol. You also need to cut way down on salt and sugar, and run like hell from high fructose corn syrup”.

The documentary follows Lee Fulkerson where he eats a plant-based whole food diet for six months, and gets off all of his cholesterol and blood pressure medications, drops a lot of weight, sleeps better and has more energy.

The film follows others who were terminally ill and told they would die, but after following a plant based diet they reversed their conditions and are still with us today.

‘Forks Over Knives’ is a MUST see for anyone who cares about their health, or the health of those around them.

The film dodges the environmental impact of the meat and dairy industries, and the insane amount of animal cruelty, but I think that’s a good thing.

There are films out there that cover those topics and most people won’t watch them because they “can’t handle the truth”.

‘Forks Over Knives’ speaks to our logic, not our emotions. No tortured pigs, or orphaned calves, just sick people getting well by eating a plant based diet.
