The Deodorant Dilemma

I’m sure we’ve all heard by now about the risk of breast cancer associated with traditional deodorants with aluminum, and antiperspirants.

Lavanila is a deodorant only, not an antiperspirant, as most natural brands are. I personally would rather naturally perspire, than block my sweat glands. I’m sure there’s is a ton of research out there on all the reasons why that’s not good for you, but I can just use my own common sense and intuition to recognize that’s not a good idea.

So what are the alternatives?

You could go sans of course, but that’s not a great option for me.

I’ve tried a lot of different kinds, but didn’t realize how much I liked Lavanila until it ran out.

This deodorant is free of parabens, aluminum, PEG’s, petrochemicals, phthalates, and synthetic dyes, and they all smell great.

I actually get asked what deodorant I use quite a bit because of all the controversy surrounding mainstream deodorant, and all the displeasure with the effectiveness of more natural brands.

I have to say, this is my favorite so far, but remember that it’s not an antiperspirant so you wont be disappointed. This is one area where expectations need to be shifted a little in order to make more healthy choices.

I’ve used La Vanilla for a couple years now, and I really like it. I’m def a little ripe at the end of the day, but it’s better than nothing (which I tried unsuccessfully for a while) or the alternative chemical-y stuff. Their perfume is also nice and chemical-free.

Why don’t men get breast cancer as much as women do. Many men use anti-perspirant everyday. Just curious.

They actually do get it more than people think, but our hormones push us over the top.
